LQB182 VirGen WORKSHOPS

VirGen places students in a virtual genetics laboratory facing the type of questions that geneticists are often expected to answer. VirGen is an interactive Drosophila fly crossing program that instructs students in Mendelian genetics skills. VirGen requires students to infer fly genotypes from virtual phenotypes produced by the students fly mating decisions. A series of suggested crosses are presented as workshops to guide students through the SCB122 learning objectives. All the fly mutations cited are real.
